Dr. Talens is the current Director of the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod of University of the Philippines Manila. This multi-awarded graduate of the UP Philippine General Hospital, finished his Residency in General Surgery, Fellowship in Trauma Surgery, and MS in Clinical Epidemiology (Rockefeller Fellow) from the same institution. He had rotating clinical fellowships in various Trauma Centers in the United States of America (Cook County General, Denver General, and San Francisco General Hospital). He finished his Research Fellowship in Trauma Surgery at the USUHS in Bethesda, Maryland where he is currently an Adjunct Professor. He has Diplomate degrees in General Surgery, Trauma and Critical Care, and the Medical Care of Catastrophes. He has the distinction of being the first Asian to graduate in the Diploma Course for the Medical Care of Catastrophes under the auspices of the Society of Apothecaries of London.
Currently, he is a Professor of the UP College of Medicine (former Chief of Trauma Surgery), and an active consultant at the East Avenue Medical Center and the Manila Doctors Hospital.
