ILOILO City — The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development –Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) and the University of the Philippines Visayas through the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanology (UPV-CFOS-IMFO) collaborated in organizing the second Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) convention from 29 to 30 June in Park Inn Hotel, Iloilo City. The convention brought together more than a hundred trained EAFM experts from all over the country to discuss and learn from the efforts, reports, and status on the impacts of EAFM on the management of the country’s fisheries resources.
EAFM is a significant platform in addressing the issues that affect the fisheries sector by promoting the holistic management, conservation, and sustainability of the fisheries resources. The participants in the two-day convention were graduates of the EAFM training that DOST-PCAARRD has conducted in collaboration with other sectors in the last ten years.
The convention featured plenary paper presentations as well as paper and poster presentations on the EAFM practices.
