NEWS | UP OVPAA-funded Filipinized Learning Management System project contributes to discourse on innovative practices of remote learning

HONG KONG — The Development of a Filipinized Learning Management System (FLMS) project team, funded by the Emerging Interdisciplinary Research Program of the University of the Philippines System Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, participated in the International Conference on Open and Innovative Education at Hong Kong Metropolitan University on 5 July. The annual conference provides a platform for scholars and researchers to address pertinent issues in open and innovative education, discuss technological advancement and recent breakthroughs, and disseminate high-quality studies.

The FLMS team presented two papers on a needs assessment and situational analysis of remote learning in the Philippines, and the development of a Filipinized Learning Management System.  The first study was presented by FLMS project technical consultant Hanna May Rosario while project leader Assistant Professor Rita C. Ramos presented the second study. The presentation emphasized the extensive research, careful design, and implementation strategies employed by the team to create a learning management system that resonates with Filipino educators and learners. FLMS aims to provide an accessible online learning environment for nursing students and faculty at the Mindanao State University-Buug, Cavite State University, and Visayas State University. Through the dissemination of their findings, the FLMS project team demonstrated its commitment to promote open and innovative education.
