The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) officially launched MindsMatter@FMDS: Empowering Minds, Nurturing Well-Being, a health and wellness program for FMDS faculty members, staff, and students, on 19 May 2023.

The program for the faculty members and staff was designed based on a wellness survey conducted prior to the launch of the program. In essence, MindsMatter@FMDS was born out of the need to address health and wellness concerns in a holistic manner by extending access to a program designed to support the faculty members and staff in every aspect of life ranging from physical, mental, and emotional aspects.

To kick things off, FMDS faculty members and staff went out for a mindful walk around the campus. This walking activity was described by Ms. Erma Tidon, a psychotherapist who serves as the wellness consultant of FMDS, as getting to know each other while identifying one’s aspiration for personal well-being. At the end of the 15-minute walk and Zoom breakout sessions for those based in UPOU-Diliman, most participants shared that seeking professional help, the ability to exercise consistently, creating healthy sleeping patterns, and having a work-life balance are their top goals on how to experience a meaningful and balanced lifestyle.

As an ending to the launching activity, FMDS employees were given a challenge to walk at least 30 minutes for five (5) days starting Monday, 22 May 2023.

Health and wellness programs for FMDS students will be announced soon.
