GDP, OASH conduct orientation on gender, anti-sexual harassment to UPV guards

In the pursuit of making UP Visayas (UPV) a safe environment for all genders, the UPV Gender Development Program and the Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment conducted a Gender Awareness and Sensitivity Orientation and Anti-Sexual Harassment Orientation for UPV security guards on October 27-28, 2022 at the Miagao and Iloilo City campuses, respectively.

Prior to the program, videos on violence against women at home, in the workplace, schools, public spaces and in digital media were shown.

GDP Director Prof. Ysabella P. Cainglet, through a recorded message, talked on Gender Awareness and Sensitivity Orientation, citing, among others, the various laws that protect and promote the rights and well-being of women and all genders. Meanwhile Prof. Aniceta Patricia T. Alingasa, Coordinator of the UPV Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment gave an orientation on anti-sexual harassment.

A brief orientation on UPV, including its vision and mission, history, core values, colleges, and university officials were also included in the program given by Mary Lyncen Fernandez of the Information and Publications Office.

A total of 75 guards participated in the orientation, 54 of whom are assigned in the Miagao campus and 21 at the city campus.
