HRDO, DGO, OASH team up for 2021 Online Gender Sensitivity and ASH Code Orientation

The webinar Online GST and UP ASH Code Orientation was concluded last 18 May 2021, with 133 participants joining the one day web-based lecture and live discussion via Zoom. The webinar was presented by the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO), in partnership with the Diliman Gender Office and Office of the Anti-Sexual Harassment.

 

VC for Administration Adeline Pacia and DGO Officer-in-charge Kristel May Magdaraog opened the orientation program with their messages of encouragement to employees to be more inclusive and sensitive in the workplace.

 

Prof. Bernadette Neri and Mx. Gio Potes presented the essential concepts pertaining to gender and its connection to history.

 
 

Former DGO Coordinator Prof. Bernadette Neri presented the basic gender concepts, while SOGIE Officer Giano Ray Potes discussed gender and history. Meanwhile, GAD Consultant and Emergency Crisis Counselor Engr. Salvacion Pascual shared to the participants the laws concerning gender. In addition, the ASH Code Orientation was led by the first coordinator of OASH, Dr. Remedios Mondiguing. Vice Chancellor Adeline Pacia formally welcomed the participants and reinforced the importance of having a gender sensitive and responsive community.

 

Engr. Salvacion Pascual comprehensively discussed the laws related to gender rights while OASH’s Dr. Remedios Mondiguing answered the audience’s questions about the UP Anti-sexual Harassment Code.

 
 

In addition to the lectures provided by the resource speakers, attendees were also able to participate in raffle Q&As, OPEN Forums after every session and a group activity wherein plans of actions were discussed. A surprise performance by Mr. Khevin Scott Almario also delighted the OVCA employees during the short program break. The program wrapped up with the participants’ suggestions to further forward gender equality in UP Diliman during the group activity. Mr. Potes, as the event’s host, comprehensively captured the inputs provided by the participants and initiatives shared by administrative officers within OVCA in reference to the promotion of gender equality in the workplace.

 

A relaxing performance by Mr. Khevin Almario took over during the break, while HRDO Deputy Director Arthur Gonzales III wrapped up the program by giving his closing remarks.

 

Participants also created their plans of action as a means to synthesize their learnings after the orientation.
