Objective:

The Ugnayan sa Pamayanan ng College of Home Economics is a program initiated by the UP College of Home Economics in cooperation with Habitat For Humanity Philippines and the Quezon City Local Government Unit. It seeks “to institutionalize the conduct of service learning activities of the faculty, students, and staff, through selected courses such as HE 100…and Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), among others, and through individual extension service activities, thus enabling the academic institution and the movement to continuously improve the lives of Filipino families and society.” (Quoted from the Memorandum of Agreement confirmed by the BOR on October 2015)

The “Unlad Pamilya, Unlad Pamayanan Project 2016 to 2018” is funded by the Office of Extension Coordination under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development. It is a project of the Ugnayan sa Pamayanan ng CHE with Bistekville 1 community in Payatas as its beneficiary. The Unlad project aims to conduct programs “to educate and capacitate the households of the partner community through five two-day seminars led by the College. These seminars tackle the different education and training needs of the community regarding community leadership, family relations, home resource management, space planning and design, home care and maintenance, and basic food preparation.” (Quoted from the approved application for extension grant)

The Ugnayan sa Pamayanan ng CHE Program is a college-initiated extension activity by the College of Home Economics (CHE), which was conceptualized during the 2nd semester of AY 2014-2015 and was formally launched on October 29, 2015. The partners for the program are the CHE, led by the Office of Community and Extension Services (OCES) under the Office of the Dean, the Local Government Unit of Quezon City, Habitat for Humanity, and the partner community which is the Bistekville I of Barangay Payatas, Quezon City.
