UP Padayon Public Service Office welcomes nine new Fellows for the 4th Public Service Writing Fellowship

 

 

QUEZON CITY, Philippines, August 22 — The University of the Philippines Padayon Public Service Office, under the Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs, welcomes nine (9) Padayon Fellows selected for the 4th Public Service Writing Fellowship (PSWF). They will participate in the Public Service Writeshop at Hotel Vivo in Baguio City from August 31 to September 1, 2023.

This year’s guest speakers and mentors are Assistant Professor Zita Concepcion P. Calugay, from the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG), who will discuss the post-pandemic challenges and trends in public service research; Associate Professor Louie Jon A. Sánchez from the UP College of Mass Communication, who will talk about cultural studies as public service; and Associate Professor Michael A. Tumanut from the UP-NCPAG, who will talk about the place of public service in academic publishing.

 

Launched in 2017, the Public Service Writing Fellowship continuously enables faculty members, administrative staff, and research, extension, and professional staff (REPS) of all UP-Constituent Universities to discuss and publish their public service-related research. The duration of the Fellowship is twelve months, allowing Padayon Fellows adequate time to write and complete their manuscripts and submit them to journals of their choice.

 

This project is part of the Padayon Public Service Office’s mandate of developing a relevant, strategic, sustainable, and overarching public service program for UP.
