TLRC goes VI.R.A.L.

Despite the pandemic, TLRC continues to perform its mandate to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

This year, TLRC launched its Virtual and Remote Assistance in Learning (VI.R.A.L) Program. This program aims at providing learning assistance to students to cope with the demands of remote learning.

TLRC Howdy is an online and mobile helpdesk intended for beginners and computer novices who do not have the mastery of using the basic computer operation and online resources. Anytime during office hours, students and teachers can log in their queries: how to go about opening an app, using an app, pasting a file, uploading a video, among others. In line with this, TLRC Howdy introduces TELETAB or the TEaching and LEarning Technical Assistance Bot to assist clients with basic queries and concerns regarding TLRC programs and technical software.

The TLRC i-Tutor is an online peer tutorial program via an online platform. Students who need tutorial assistance in subject areas like Math, Chemistry, Physics, and Communication can avail of the online peer mentoring services that will be handled by student tutors.

While tutees enjoy free tutorial classes online, the tutors are paid honoraria (per hour of a tutorial session) for their tutorial services. Interested students who excel in specialized areas can apply as online tutors. The i-Tutor is set to start by the end of September or the first week of October.

To provide a wide range of options for remote learning, TLRC also posts links to webinars and online resources and publishes a schedule of webinars and online conferences that teachers and students can attend or participate in. This initiative is called AWOLs (Access to Webinars and Other Learning resources).

Also, to provide teachers and students a venue to prepare their online materials, TLRC offers a very modest facility for basic audio and video recording: a laptop, microphone, webcam, digital camera, video camera with tripod, headset, and a HI-speed internet connectivity.

Called “Re-BOOT” (short for recording booth), students and teachers can make advance reservations for its use. The recording booth is open daily from Monday to Friday during office hours. Reservations can be done through text messaging, phone call (verbal), or FB messenger. Clients can also opt to fill out the e-REBOOT Form (Electronic Use of Recording Booth Form) that they can download from our official site.
