The Asian Society of Labour Law (AsianSLL) held a Special Conference in Manila last 16-17 December 2022, with the theme “Labour Rights in the New Normal”. The Conference was organized in cooperation with the Workers and Employees Program (WEP), University of the Philippines College of Law/Law Center. Labour law practitioners, academics, experts, and law students from all over Asia attended physically in the Malcolm Theater and Bocobo Hall, both in the UP Law Complex, Diliman, Quezon City, and virtually via Zoom Webinar.

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) conducted 12 group tutorial sessions with its resident PEER (Promoting Excellence through Educational Review) tutors, recognized student organizations of the university, and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Physics (IMSP) to help prepare students for their final examinations for the first semester AY 2022-2023.

Through the Auxiliary Services Office (ASO), UP Visayas was able to raise funds for a Christmas gift pack for 180 agency-hired personnel of the university (104 agency guards and 76 janitors). The gift packs contain a spaghetti pack, canton noodles, and candies. For years now they have been receiving 3-in-1 coffee through fund drives and the gift pack this year is a departure from the usual tradition. 

In celebration of National Volunteer Month 2022 this December, the Ugnayan ng PAHINUNGÓD, the volunteer service program of UP, is launching the Kaibigan ng Pahinungód campaign through the Give to UP portal.

This campaign aims to support our UP alumni serving as volunteer teachers (called the Gurong Pahinungód) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao. We need your support to be able to send more volunteers to these areas and reach learners who need help.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA), in partnership with Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) Philippines, conducted a campus safe driving seminar for UPLB drivers to brush up their knowledge on road safety essentials.

The learning activity, held in line with the University’s commitment to maintaining a safe and secure community, was participated in by 164 UPLB drivers, including personnel who have been issued authority to drive.
