The project aims to assess the impact of the program or project of the requesting organization. SIA helps organizations to plan better and to implement more effective development programs/projects. It also facilitates accountability, supports stakeholder communication, and helps guide the allocation of resources.
Public, private and government institutions of today operate in an environment characterized by intense competition, constant change and a strong customer focus. Considering today’s business environment, there is a strong need in all sectors and at all levels of the economy to apply engineering principles throughout the enterprise. The Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of the Philippines Los Baños recognized this as an opportunity to expand its horizons and networks and at the same time serve its core functions of research, instruction and extension. Thus in 2012, the MSEP was instituted. Several projects and services have since been offered to the university, and other public and private institutions.
The CPS aims to develop baseline profiles of the communities, while the CNA aims to examine the communities’ current conditions and needs. The CPS and CNA will be helpful in the formulation of barangay integrated development plans by the development council, as well as in social development and management interventions. The DSDS has already conducted more than 300 community profile studies and community needs assessment in Laguna and Rizal since 1981.
The policy seminar series serves as a mechanism by which the Center pursues its mandate to render public outreach and community service in policy development and governance. It is through the seminar series that the Center is able to advocate for and disseminate relevant policy information.
The Center was established to provide data and information on the scientific basis of climate change and disaster risk reduction and management. Specifically, it provides expertise and technical assistance on mainstreaming climate change adaptation and disaster risk-reduction and management (CCA/DRRM) in the curricular programs of the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), as well as in integrating CCA-DRRM in the local development plans of Local Government Units (LGUs).
This training aims to introduce planners to the concepts and approaches to basic GIS. It includes demonstration of the use of spatial data in land use planning; the application of techniques in spatial analysis for land use planning; and the application of geospatial tools in thematic mapping for land use planning.
The nutrition and wellness clinic is envisioned to be a key partner in promoting the nutritional well-being of UPLB and nearby communities. Its mission is to provide nutrition information through nutrition counselling, nutrition forum and related services.
Dito sa Laguna is a weekly cable TV program that serves as venue for discussion of development-oriented topics. It has aired 133 episodes on various topics on CCVC Channel 8.
The College of Development Communication (CDC) adopted a school in Los Baños to provide education-support and conduct communication activities
CDC’s adopted public elementary school—Bernardo N. Calara Elementary School—has been helped through the educational communication materials and other interventions developed and implemented by CDC faculty and students.
