UPLB, through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (OVCSA), is preparing relief packs for stranded dormers inside the campus and for other affected communities in Laguna.
Rice, canned goods, toiletries, coffee, snacks, and other essential goods are being packed at the Student Union building.
According to Dr. Janette Malata-Silva, vice chancellor for student affairs, more than 50 undergraduate and graduate local and international students are left at the campus dormitories when Typhoon Rolly hit Laguna yesterday, Nov. 1.
Dr. Silva will visit today Men’s Dorm, International House, and New Forestry Residence Hall to check on the situation of the students and distribute the relief packs.
Joining her are Prof. Jickerson Lado, assistant to the vice chancellor for student affairs and director of the Office of Scholarships and Grants; Dr. Jea Agnes Buera, head of the International Student Relations; Dr. Maria Catalina de Luna, program development associate at the Office of the University Registrar; and the staff of OVCSA.
Dr. Silva reminds students to stay safe and alert during this typhoon season. She assured students that they can count on UPLB during these times.
Brgy. Lawa, a community surrounded by rivers in Calamba City, has been identified as another recipient of the relief goods.
