The Postharvest and Horticulture Training and Research Center (PHTRC) provides various services to various clients. This includes providing technical assistance on the operation and use of postharvest equipment, technical assistance to students of various levels on projects related to postharvest and horticulture, as well as technical assistance to industry clients on the establishment, operation and/or improvement of new and existing postharvest system for fresh fruits and vegetables.

This training enhances participants’ technical capability and develops their skills on postharvest horticulture management. It focuses on the meeting of requirements for quality and safety of fresh produce as it goes to the supply chain.
The library services aim to provide assistance to PHTRC research and extension staff. It includes searching and downloading of relevant information on the topic of postharvest (e-books, articles/reprints from postharvest e-journals, and latest statistics on perishable crops). It also aims to assist students of various levels by helping them in the searching and retrieving of requested articles.
This internship will immerse participants in the conduct of postharvest research based on a particular postharvest discipline, problem area, or commodity of interest.
This yearly drive provides expert assistance with the aim of eradicating rabies by the year 2020.
The on-demand trainings on organic vegetable production started in 2016 due to the demand of a potential partner-client. It was right in time for the implementation of the station’s Techno-Demo Project for the mentioned commodity since 2014.
The main objective of the workshop-training is to enhance the conceptual and practical knowledge of the Municipal/Provincial Legislative Council, Municipal Planning Officer, and Municipal Agricultural Officer in policy analysis toward an evidence-based formulation of policies relating to watershed management. At the end of the training, the participants will be able to articulate the importance of policy and policy analysis with respect to watershed management. They will also be able to apply selected tools and techniques in undertaking policy analysis for watershed management. Lastly, they will be able to draft an ordinance or resolution for an integrated watershed management.
This training aims to provide interested growers with knowledge and skills in mushroom production technology. Mushroom production is a potential livelihood enterprise, considering its profitability and viability. The abundance of readily available substrate for mushroom production pushed the station to develop this training package that can be availed by more clients.
The Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB) has been developing high quality crop varieties for the past 40 years. It has also developed technologies that best serve its clients. The IPB Extension Program was designed to make sure that these varieties and technologies reach their intended users.
In response to its mandate to do research, training and extension activities on production, processing and marketing of various crops and livestock, UPLBCAFS-LGRTS disseminates planting materials. Specifically, it provides asexually propagated planting materials of various fruit trees to fruit farmers of the region.
