This mission sought to help patients with hemorrhoidal diseases, fistula- in-ano and perianal warts at the Out-patient Clinic.
This service aims to make fungal cultures from nail specimen, skin scraping, tissue biopsy samples or even hair and pus from suspected mycoses from patients. Aside from isolation and identification, rapid diagnostic tests of specimen via KOH mounting is also offered.

The Postgraduate Training Course in Diagnostic Mycology is an annual professional training or course offering of the department. The course has been offered since the 1980s to dermatology residents, with participation of some medical technologists. Since 2016, the PAPSHPI, Inc. has also reached out to the Department requesting for this training course to be conducted among their members. The course is lecture- based, covering different types of fungal infections, fungal agents, diagnosis, and treatment. It also provides for hands-on laboratory work-up of fungal agents and microscopic demonstrations.

The slit skin smear reading service was first offered on April 2011 when residents from the PGH Section of Dermatology started sending out their leprosy patient slides for AFB staining and quantitative bacterial load determination to the Department of Medical Microbiology.
BIDANI aims to promote nutrition-in-development through community and other key stakeholders’ participation in an integrated management system facilitated by State Universities and Colleges’ extension programs. It is a community-based integrated development strategy designed to improve nutritional status and general well-being of the poor. To the academe, BIDANI is an action research. For partner LGUs, it is a strategy to systematically help them evolve their own development programs with an orientation to nutrition.
This certificate course aims to develop augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) specialists in the field of speech-language pathology in the Philippines by developing the participants’ knowledge and skills in AAC assessment and intervention.
