Summer Program in Economics

Objective:

The Summer Program in Economics (SPE) is an intensive program designed to prepare prospective students wishing to pursue graduate studies in economics, agricultural economics, and allied fields.

Started in 1977 under the auspices of the Department of Economics at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, the main purpose of the program is to provide students with groundwork on the rudiments of economic principles and the discipline’s tools of analysis.

It has since assisted participants, Filipinos, and foreigners alike. Majority of these students have pursued further studies in Economics leading to M.S. or Ph.D. degrees here and abroad.

The four-week long program consists of lectures, exercises and examinations in macroeconomic theory, mathematical economics, microeconomic theory and econometrics.


Duration / Date:

Every midyear (June-July)
For Midyear 2017, SPE will be conducted on June 20 to July 14, 2017

Target / Beneficiaries:

Anyone who wishes to have a contextualized understanding of the economy, as well as anyone who seeks a refresher course on economics, or a crash course in the fundamentals and tools of economics


Cost of Participation:

PhP 7,500 for Filipino participants
USD 750 for foreign participants
