The Institute of Human Nutrition and Food (IHNF) has finally launched a clinic of its own – the Nutrition and Wellness Clinic.
The clinic’s soft launching took place on May 20 in celebration of the institute’s 31st anniversary with the theme #IHNF31forEveryJuan.
The Nutrition and Wellness Clinic offers services such as nutritional assessment, nutrition counseling, and making a well-balanced diet meal plan.
It is located at the College of Human Ecology (CHE) Research and Extension Building, and is open from Monday to Friday at 2-4 PM.
“Ang pagiging malusog ay hindi lamang [nangangahulugan na] pagkawala ng sakit,” said Dr. Liezl Marinay-Atienza, assistant professor at IHNF, who gave a lecture about nutrition and wellness during the event.
She gave tips on how to be healthy by eating properly and having a well-balanced diet. “Napaka-importante ng tamang nutrisyon,” Dr. Marinay-Atienza said.
Present during the event were Dr. Portia Lapitan, vice chancellor for academic affairs; Dr. Raden Piadozo, dean of CHE; Dr. Leila Africa, director of IHNF; and Dr. Normahitta Gordoncillo, project leader of the Nutrition and Wellness Clinic.
Faculty members and students of IHNF also witnessed the launching of the new clinic.
IHNF, one of the four academic units of CHE, is a training ground for aspiring nutritionist-dietitians. The graduates of its BS Nutrition program have been giving UPLB a 100% passing rate every year in the registered nutritionist and dietitian exam since 2008.
The institute also offers graduate programs, namely: MS Applied Nutrition, Master of Professional Studies in Food and Nutrition Planning, and PhD Human Nutrition.
