The Extension Programs in Linguistics (EPL) are extension activities of the Department of Linguistics that seek to share and validate linguistic knowledge of both individuals and organizations seeking to utilize such knowledge in their line of duty, function or interest. There are two regular extension activities under it, which the department seeks to institutionalize—the Philippine Linguistics Congress, and the Summer Seminar in Linguistics.
This program aims to assist and guide the Bay, Laguna Sangguniang Bayan and municipal offices in the creation of its local climate change program technical working group, as well as the preparation of its project proposal to access the People’s Survival Fund (PSF). It also aims to help in the formulation of its Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP), and in the formulation and implementation of its climate change action programs, projects and/or activities.
The Leadership and Local Governance lecture series aims to engage former and incumbent elected local officials in sharing their experiences and views on the subject through a structured format that will enable distilling of lessons and challenges across contexts. The School of Statistics provides statistical expertise to institutions and individuals needing help in the conduct of academic and/or research work, as well as capacity building. Statistical areas in which consultation may be provided include, but are not limited to, data analysis, design of experiments, analysis of categorical data, medical statistics, social and business statistics, regression analysis, time series analysis, and data analytics.
Through this training, the skills and knowledge of the participants in research are enhanced through the use of online resources for data gathering, and computer-aided quantitative and qualitative tools for data analysis.
