LOS BAÑOS, Laguna — The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) conducted an exploratory meeting with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Laguna and Concentrix Philippines on 11 July at the UPOU Sandbox in Los Baños, Laguna.

After the meeting, the parties saw the possibility of creating a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding which will develop micro-credential courses that can be tied with the PESO Laguna-managed Province of Laguna Employment Information System (PLEIS). Moreover, the MOU also intends to capacitate Department of Education (DepEd) teachers as life skills trainers in Laguna’s barangays, and enable barangay leaders to expand local employment servicing.

Overall, the potential partnership has identified other target areas including: increased job opportunities at the local level through innovative training programs; better local government service response; and, faster delivery of information services. Through the MOU, the parties primarily intend to “help and assist barangays transform the way they think and operate in a holistic manner.”
