The University Library (UL) officially launched the University Knowledge Digital Repository (UKDR) on July 23.
The UKDR, according to University Librarian Concepcion Saul, is UPLB’s new digital platform to store knowledge created by UPLB experts for online access.
Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. sees this event as a milestone for the UPLB community as it is the first official initiative to comprehensively collect, safeguard, and disseminate the knowledge output and historical materials of UPLB.
“The SIBOL program aims to establish a surgical innovation laboratory for the conduct of researches and projects in a surgical device innovation in the UP College of Medicine and the PGH as well as a surgical innovation skills laboratory that will serve as a pre-clinical trial laboratory for investigational surgical devices,” he said.
He cited that the scientists and engineers from UP Diliman were also involved in the program.
Under the program, the Surgical Innovation and Biotechnology Laboratory or SIBOL Laboratory will be established. It will be located on the 9th floor of the new Henry Sy, Sr. Medical Sciences Building of UP Manila, which is currently under construction.
De la Peña said the program is also expected to increase the capacity of clinicians and surgical device innovation researchers and become a premier hub for surgical device innovation researches and projects.

Cavite State University (CvSU) and University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on a collaborative project entitled “Development of Integrated Mapping, Monitoring, and Analytical Network System for Manila Bay and Linked Systems (MapABLE). The project is a component of a two-year research undertaking funded by DOST-PCIEERD titled “Integrated Mapping, Modelling, and Management System for Manila Bay and Linked Systems (IM4ManilaBay) Program”. Project MapABLE aims to develop and deploy an integrated system for mapping and monitoring of the water quality of Manila Bay and linked systems including major river tributaries using geospatial technologies and citizen science.
The College of Human Ecology (CHE) has cemented its partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Region 4A as they signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 23 at the Bienvenido M. (BM) Gonzalez Hall.
The MOA covers their collaborative partnership for the implementation of the Technical Assistance Program on Human Settlements Planning in Calabarzon Region (TAP-HSP Calabarzon).

The Department of Science and Technology-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) has forged partnership with the University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman for the bench-scale production, safety assessment and market research of halal cosmetics and toiletries.
DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said the ITDI signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with UP Diliman for the implementation of the project from May 17 to October 31, 2021.
The first session of SARAi “e.skwela sa CARAGA” was successfully held last July 2, 2021 via Zoom. Several agriculturists from City Agriculture Office of Bayugan and Municipal Agriculture Office of Las Nieves, and technical staff from DOST-CARAGA and Regional DA-ATI attended the event.
