Objective:
KaSaMa Teachers Online Community was conceived as a strategy to bridge the gap between UP NISMED and the Filipino science and mathematics education community, with the goal of improving science and mathematics education in the country. KaSaMa Teachers stands for an online bayanihan driven by a genuine desire to support and empower teachers, hence the tagline “An online community of science and mathematics educators who strive for excellence through innovation and collaboration”.
Through KaSaMa Teachers Online Community, UP NISMED specifically aims to offer alternative, technology-enabled professional development to science and mathematics educators, and to disseminate science and mathematics education information and resources. It also aims to advocate for the teaching of science through inquiry and of mathematics through problem solving.
By participating in KaSaMa Teachers, science and mathematics educators will be able to gain access to high-quality information and resources on science and mathematics education, as well as receive technology-enabled, high-quality professional development that is both varied and timely. They would also be able to share practices, strategies, and resources, and engage with other science and mathematics educators in conversations, discussions, and reflections to improve own and others’ teaching practice.
Some of the activities that KaSaMa conducts include webinars, online discussions, and coaching. It also provides access to K to 12-related resources, as well as content developed by and shared among the members.
