The University of the Philippines, through the Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs, has made the call for nominations to the second Gawad Pangulo: Award for Excellence in Public Service.
Nominations should belong to the five clusters: Arts and Letters and Communications; Science and Technology; Social Sciences, Management, and Law; Health and Allied Sciences; and Agriculture, Forestry, Fishery, and Natural Resources Management. Awardees will receive prize money worth PhP 100,000.00.
Dr. Joane Serrano is currently the Director of the Information Office and the Multimedia Center at UP Open University. She has been with the university for 20 years and serves as an Associate Professor under the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) and also teaches courses in the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies and Faculty of Education. She was awarded the Academic Excellence Award when she finished her PhD in Development Communication in 2013.
The 3rd AsiaEngage Regional Conference was held last 21-23 November 2016 in the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City and was attended by close to 250 participants from all over Southeast Asia. The Extension Programs in Linguistics (EPL) are extension activities of the Department of Linguistics that seek to share and validate linguistic knowledge of both individuals and organizations seeking to utilize such knowledge in their line of duty, function or interest. There are two regular extension activities under it, which the department seeks to institutionalize—the Philippine Linguistics Congress, and the Summer Seminar in Linguistics.
This program aims to assist and guide the Bay, Laguna Sangguniang Bayan and municipal offices in the creation of its local climate change program technical working group, as well as the preparation of its project proposal to access the People’s Survival Fund (PSF). It also aims to help in the formulation of its Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP), and in the formulation and implementation of its climate change action programs, projects and/or activities.
The Leadership and Local Governance lecture series aims to engage former and incumbent elected local officials in sharing their experiences and views on the subject through a structured format that will enable distilling of lessons and challenges across contexts. Through this mechanism, it is hoped that the UPLB CPAf can provide the platform for meaningful exchange, continuing dialogue and action to foster academe- local government partnership as lead agent of local development.
