A fundraising project was launched on Jun. 15 to benefit communities near the UP College of Fine Arts (CFA).

Dubbed as “#TulongSining,” the project is an initiative of Sining Fine Art (ASFA), an affiliate organization of the university-wide cultural national-democratic mass organization Alay Sining.

Through #TulongSining, ASFA artist members will accept commissioned works except requests that are considered NSFW (not safe for work) or hate speech.  The participating artists’ portfolios can be viewed at the ASFA’s Facebook page.

The Lesson Study Program of the UP NISMED is instrumental in creating opportunities for Filipino teachers to acquire knowledge and develop capabilities in science and mathematics teaching. The LSP introduces teachers to a new professional learning model where these acquisition and development are embedded and sustained within a community of practice.

The University of the Philippines Diliman – College of Social Science and Philosophy (UPD-CSSP) partnered with the University of the Philippines Visayas – College of Arts and Sciences (UPV-CAS) and organized the 2019 CSSP Extramural Training Seminar for Social Science Teachers (CSSPEx 2019)., held last June 14-16, 2019 in Iloilo City.

A recent paper by University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute’s Timothy Quimpo and colleagues, published in the Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom (JMBA), revealed that coral reefs in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) have low abundance and diversity of corals and fish. Even the deeper areas of the reefs, the upper mesophotic coral ecosystems that are presumed to be buffered from disturbances, showed similar benthic and coral assemblage composition as the shallow water reefs, suggesting that both depths are vulnerable to disturbances.
