The University of the Philippines (UP) has converted the gymnasium of its Diliman, Quezon City campus into a COVID-19 vaccination facility for university workers and members of its community.

UP Diliman Vice Chancellor Aleli Bawagan said Tuesday the vaccination center is manned by qualified volunteers, including university alumni and residents from communities that cover the vast campus.

The in-campus vaccination program aims to decongest vaccination centers in Quezon City and speed up the process of achieving herd immunity against the new coronavirus.

Lopez-led geothermal leader Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and the country’s premiere state-university, the University of the Philippines (UP), have formally continued its partnership as they inked the memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the expanded Biodiversity Conservation and Monitoring Program (BCMP) III on 29 January 2021.

The continued partnership between EDC and UP, which started more than a decade ago, was formally sealed in a ceremonial MOA signing via Zoom, led by EDC President and Chief Operating Officer Richard B. Tantoco and UP Diliman Chancellor Dr. Fidel R. Nemenzo.

The UP Diliman Emotional Support Animals (ESA) Program which was launched in 2019 by then UPD Chancellor Michael Tan, provides psychosocial support for students and university staff that may experience stress, depression, or anxiety. The program manages, trains, and utilizes campus animals to render emotional and therapeutic support to those who need them.

The UP College of Arts and Letters Student Council (UP CAL-SC) recently launched a donation drive for UP Diliman (UPD) students in need of a stable internet access for remote learning.

“Kasama Ka Kaeskuwela” (KKK) was launched on Aug.31 to primarily aid CAL students who only rely on personal mobile data for remote learning when UP System classes begin on Sept. 10.

There’s a new, faster way of searching through the University Library’s collection of materials with “Tuklas,” a web-scale discovery service that can search across the print and electronic resources of an entire library in real time.

“Tuklas” functions much like an online public access catalog or OPAC, where users can search through the various library resources such as books, academic journals, theses and dissertations, archival documents and articles from local newspapers and magazines.
